Description: 1200m² extension to an existing primary school.
Client brief: Scope of work included design, install and commissioning of all mechanical works including the feasibility to show CO2 reduction to comply with building regulations. This was complemented by a Rehau FC-BMS underfloor heating package which included tamper proof wireless thermostats to reduce first fix wiring costs and installation time.
Solution: To provide a Delonghi high temperature air-source heat pump capable of delivering in excess of 65ºC flow temperature down to -15ºC ambient air temperature. Also, supplied and installed a Rehau underfloor heating system which was calculated to provide a 17% CO2 saving.
Main challenge: The modular design of this project meant that the plant room was almost completely assembled off site to reduce the onsite installation time. This is a relatively new approach to plant room design and installation but well worth the benefits and expected to become more popular in future.
